As I described on SCP’s CE webpage, licensed psychologists must earn continuing education (CE) credits to maintain licensure in the state where they practice.  A common way to earn CEs is to participate in a CE activity (e.g., presentation, workshop, program, webinar, audiovisual or text homestudy) offered by a qualified psychology CE sponsor.  Each state psychology licensing board has different criteria and processes for designating an organization as a qualified psychology CE sponsor. However, state psychology licensing boards tend to recognize the American Psychological Association (APA) as a qualified psychology CE sponsor. In addition to being a qualified CE sponsor itself, APA sponsors individual organizations as Approved Psychology CE Sponsors. Chances are, if a given organization is an Approved Psychology CE Sponsor, that agency’s CE activities will probably be accepted by your state’s psychology licensing board.

If you are a licensed psychologist looking for free psychology CEs, we’ve put together a list of psychology CE sponsors that have been (1) designated by APA as Approved Psychology CE Sponsors and also (2) offer at least one free CE course. Click the link below to see the list:

This list is occasionally reviewed and updated (see Column I), but we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the information, so be sure to verify that the course you are about to take will be accepted by your state psychology board before signing up for that course.
